General Update 06/26/2022

Added a completely new generic upgrade chain for units. Currently all units have the same path for this upgrade chain, although more variety is planned. This upgrade aims to make lower tier units more useful for longer, and make it less clear when the best time is to increase tiers, since a 4-times upgraded tier 1 unit is better than a tier 3 unit which is unupgraded.

Since workers are also affected by these upgrades, this substantially speeds up the early economy.

Gameplay Updates

  • Units can now be upgraded to increase health, damage, resource collection speed, and inventory count by 50% per upgrade level (up to 4 levels), in the same building that is used to construct them.
  • Reworked devil stats and gave 25% chance for 8x critical hit
  • Reworked hitbox around hurricane
  • All spawners will now charge at the same time as the unit is spawned
  • Spawners will no longer wait forever for resources to become available; they will instead fail if there are not enough resources at the time the unit would have been spawned.

  • Spawn orders can be started even if you do not have enough resources

UI Update

  • Minor copy improvements for the hover text on previewing entity tiers
  • Copy improvements on the hover text on most air units
  • Copy improvements on the hover text on most earth units
  • Changed copy for when a spawning building is blocked
  • Added health/dps reference prior to spawning all entities

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where demonic altar would stop requiring workers sometimes
  • Fixed an issue that would cause animated sculptures to get stuck if they were asked to construct a building while melding processes was researched, and they were in resourceful form

Developer Improvements

  • Can now specify "description" global on units to specifically change the description in a spawning building. Previously this was usually the hover text or not editable in the unit file. Defaults to the hover text.
  • UnitCost now has ToResourceString which acts similar to ToShortString, except omits the duration. Useful when using a unit cost just for the resource costs rather than the duration.
  • Refactored all unit construction buildings to use a shared helper, which is significantly more feature-complete. Note that it references waypoints, though they are not yet supported. More information is in lua/elements/shared/building_templates/spawner/toolbar.lua
